Korea: 2NE1 1st Mini-album

Last Sunday, 2NE1 has ended their Fire promotions at SBS Inkigayo. And many of us think that their last performance was the best. 2NE1 pulled of some dance moves from their Space version MV of Fire like the "Octo-arm" on Dara's part and "Bunny girl Alice in Wonderland" part for Bom.

After Lollipop and Fire, Their next title song is a reggae R&B ballad called I don't care which is co-produced by YG producer Teddy and Kush from reggae group, Stony Skunk. They hope to present a totally different side and image of 2NE1 to fans after their Fire promotions. Well, after hearing the preview and the full song, it was good. They did great on mixing Hiphop/Rap (m0stly CL parts) with Reggae/R&B/Pop.

July 1 (today) is the release of their single I don't care in different online music websites. Their, i think, self-titles first mini-album will be released on July 8, 2009. And also, new pictures of 2NE1 has been released which, i think again, will be for their upcoming mini-abum. You'll realize how cute Minji is, see how pretty CL without her huge shades and ther ever charming Dara and Bom.

Girls' Generation's much awaited second mini-album was released today June 29. This album went through some controversies regarding their album cover which forced SM Entertainment to move their release date. And atlast the wait is over!

Philippines: Hale Comeback With a New Album

Hale is now back with a new album with a new concept. Hale continues to experiment and explore their sound which is good i think, because they are giving us new and good stuff. Their fourth album title is not yet decided whether Bahay Kubo or Kalesa. But whatever it is, it will surely rock! Many HALErs are waiting for their comeback album.

Hale is nowfinalzing their carrier single which I think is entitled "Kundiman". Also, they released a 2-minuter teaser of "Bahay Kubo" recently. After listening to the song, I realized how I missed Hale so much.

Hale is also the cover of MYX MAG June-July issue! Read the article about Hale as they talk about their new drummer, yes new drummer, Paolo Santiago, and their progress on the album. I forgot to tell you that Omnie Sarmienta, won't be with Hale anymore. Sadly, he wanted to have a peaceful and stable life with his family.

Korea: Girls Generation/ SNSD Comeback

Girls Generation/SNSD are back with yet another great mini-album with marine girl concept. Even after a day of its release, SNSD's latest single Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) has climbed up the charts. It seems like SNSD will be giving us another "song syndrome".

Album Covers:

Yoona and Yuri are the main ladies of their latest mini-album. I'm glad that Yoona was one of the leads beacuse I'm very much a Yoona fan. I also wish that SooYoung and SeoHyun will have their "leads" in their upcoming album covers.

Controversies:

-Notice the plane at Yoona and Yuri's waist? It was found out that the plane was Zero-sen fighter plane of the Japanese military. It was then replace by Korea's T-50 modern fighter plane.
-The wings on the Eagle badges on SNSD's hats are also changed. It was said that the eagle wings used at the SNSD's first released album covers resemble that of what Adolf Hitler used.

These cntroversies made SM Entertainment postpone the release of this highly anticipated album to June 29. The new cover is now released through the internet. Spot some differences :)

SM Entertainment said that SNSD isn't responsible for these controversies. I believe that. I think it's their Wardrobe and Photo/Picture Editor's fault.

Even though the release date of their album was posponed. SNSD continues to promote their albums. Recently they performed their comeback stage with Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) on Music Bank. That was also the day they won Best Song for the first half of the year. SNSD's performance on Music Bank was somewhat boring at first but it gained energy as the song plays. Their performance at Music Core was better. :)

Korea: 2NE1 vs. 4Minute

June 18, 2009 Mnet! Countdown was very much anticipated because the countdown will be flooded by girl groups. And also, Lady Gaga performed on stage.

But i think the highlight performances was of 2NE1 and 4 Minute. This has been 4 Minute's debut stage and 2NE1's first stage performance on Mnet! Countdown. 4 Minute has been compared to 2NE1 and After School even before their debut so netizens very much anticipated their performance. Unfortunately, in my opinion, i didn't like their performance. Why? First and foremost, they sounded like little kids singing, in other words, their not good at vocals. Second, they are not synchronized when dancing. And Lastly, HyunAh was better when she was with WonderGirls. To sum it all up, these kids desperately need more time in training! If we compare this with 2NE1's first stage performance, obviusly they don't have a chance to win. 2NE1 did awesome even if it was their first stage performance. I don't think that "first stage performance" is an excuse for 4 Minute girls. They need to improve!

I also think that 4 Minute is more like After School after they performed.

Another Girl Group is yet to be release in this month of June 2009. Seriously? Three girl group release in three consecutive months? Hmmmm. April is After School's month. May is for 2NE1. And now, June will be for 4 Minute?


CUBE ENTERTAINMENT will release a new girl group which is named "4Minute". They gave them that name because they said this girl group will mesmerize you at exactly 4Minutes of their song and dance performance. According to a source, Cube Entertainment is "like copying" YG Entertainment's strategy when they released 2NE1 by releasing photos of the group members one after the other.

4Minute has been of a buzz lately for the fact that Ex-Wonder Girl Hyun-Ah was the first member confirmed and Nam Ji Hyun is also a member. According to a source, 4Minutes' theme or concept is "Candy Funky Style". But seriously?! What is that?? Candy Funky Style is all about 4Minute and how their "look" will be. Now, Netizens are commenting that 4Minute kinda feels like "photocopies" of the newest girl groups sensation, 2NE1, which is now claiming top spots in hit charts. Actually if we compare the two groups, they're not that alike vocally or in songs but kinda same in theme. 2NE1 is more of a hiphop group, following their sunbaes BIGBANG. 4 Minute has more pop & rnb sound on them.

Other issues of this girl group includes their teaser video which was almost like a famous singer's iPod/iTunes commercial in the west. And as you watch their teaser for their MV "Hot Issue" which will be released on the 17th of June, you'll kinda feel like you're watching the Space Version of 2NE1's fire.

But when i heard the full song "Hot Issue" it kinda reminded me of "Diva" by After School. "Hot Issue" sounds good to my ears and kinda addicting.

Seriously. Even thoudh I'm a die hard fan of 2NE1, I'm still on the look out for this girl group even though they're like 2NE1 + After School in looks and WonderGirls + After School in sound. But then again, I HOPE THEY'LL FIND ORIGINALITY IN THEM because almost everything i see from them are like copies from other pop idols.
